68th Festival De Cannes

Two months ago today, some of the most creative, talented, beautiful people in the world descended on a tiny strip of the French Riviera dubbed “La Croisette” for the annual Cannes Film Festival. And this year, I got to go. Can you say: Starstruck?

A short film I wrote and co-produced, Eye for an Eye, was screened in the festival’s Short Film Corner. Nestled in the basement of the Palais, it was our ticket to attend workshops, walk the red carpet to see feature films from around the globe in competition for the prestigious Palm D’Or, and soak up the sun and stars–if you catch my drift. Best part? I got to share it with my co-Producer, co-conspirator, and best friend Momona Komagata. Consider this your “I knew her when” moment; I do all the time.

Another perk of the job? The beautiful jewels and clothes I had the honour of wearing. Playing dress-up has never been so much fun–or on such an intense stage. I wrote about it in my Red Carpet Style post for textile studio Daub + Design and Red Carpet? Cannes Do. guest post for Brooklyn Designs jewelry; two of Vancouver’s best in indie fashion. MonNom Artwear also created a gorgeous day dress (that’s me in the turquoise!) for me to wear while doing all that hard work on the Mediterranean, and my good luck charm for the trip? LeaFloria’s Evil Queen ring; inspired by the incomparable Lana Parilla from ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

Luck is my Lady.
